Overview

Voidstorm is a World of Warcraft tracking and analytics platform hosted at voidstorm.cc. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Our server is located in Norway, within the European Economic Area. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Data We Collect

When you log in via Battle.net OAuth, we collect:

  • Your Battle.net BattleTag
  • Your Battle.net account email address
  • WoW character names, realms, guilds, class, and specialization — retrieved from the Blizzard API and uploaded via the companion app

When you use the Voidstorm Companion desktop app to sync your addon data, we also collect:

  • Gambling session results, wager amounts, and outcomes
  • ELO ratings and achievements earned within sessions
  • Reputation tags and encounter history from M+ groups

Session and encounter uploads include data about other players who participated alongside you, even if those players do not have a Voidstorm account. This data originates from publicly observable in-game activity.

We use a self-hosted instance of Umami for anonymous usage analytics. Umami is cookieless, does not track users across sites, and respects the Do Not Track browser header. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

Legal Basis for Processing

For registered users, processing is based on your consent given when you authenticate via Battle.net OAuth.

For data about third-party players included in session uploads, processing is based on legitimate interest. This data reflects public in-game activity (group participation, dungeon runs, gambling outcomes) and is used to provide accurate leaderboards and reputation profiles. We limit this data to what is necessary for that purpose.

Data Retention

We retain account and gameplay data indefinitely for registered users. We are actively working on a formal data retention policy and will update this page when it is in place.

Data for non-registered players is retained as long as it is needed to provide accurate session and reputation records. You may request removal at any time (see Your Rights below).

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your data is used solely to operate the Voidstorm platform. Aggregated, anonymized data (such as global leaderboard rankings) is displayed publicly on the site as part of the service.

The Blizzard API is used to retrieve character and guild data. Use of the Blizzard API is governed by Blizzard's API terms. Voidstorm is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — you may request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Right to erasure — you may request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Right to object — you may object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Right to rectification — you may request correction of inaccurate data

Non-registered players whose data was included in session uploads may also request removal of their data by contacting us via email.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at voidstorm@pm.me. We will respond within 30 days.
